Behavior if a road closures reported
-
Hi there!
I had a very strange behavior of the MRA Navigation Next APP when I was going from Kristiansunf to Alesung.
Find the route hereThe problem was, that I‘ve started as every morning my triplane started the navigation an all looks fine so far. Sometime later I realized that the timings and disctances depslayed within the APP are nor longer valid and I stopped to check what has happened and what might be wrong. What I found out was: Within the local online traffic information the street going up the Trollstigen here in Norway.was reported a fully closed over a distance of several km‘s. This dances the APP to try to reach the selected Via-point (number 5) and then just turns around to go back where I came from before. So far generally a clear and more or less logic behavior, but I wasn‘t aware that I had switched on traffic based routing, what might be my mistake, but what is - at least from my point of view - totally wrong is, that eben that I followed the route/road into the closed section, the APP still wanted my to turn around.
My expectation here is, that if I enter a reported closure of a road the APP should assume that the information provided by the external source is invalid and just continue to route as planned.
After I have left the other end of the closure (as it was reported from traffic information) the APP came back to normal mode and worked for the rest of the tour as expected.Any comments or ideas?
Greetings

@TomOnTour, Yes I suppose the app will continue to lead you away from the obviously wrong closure. I can not say I have ever been in such a situation, so I don't know for sure.

@TomOnTour I'd need to think about this slightly longer
So it really kinda makes sense that even when you drive on a closed road, the active navigation guidance wants to minimise the penalty. Therefore you'd have to turn around until it's better to just cross it. This is a decision that we do not make
How this "issue" can be fixed is not obvious to be fair.

@Corjan-Meijerink, also inherent to HERE route calculation I suppose?

@Con-Hennekens yes, definitely

Hi Corjan,
I would disagree with you on that. In the case I described the problem was not, that I was driving a closed road, but the information coming from the traffic data was just wrong: Hundreds of people have been using this route and it just wasn‘t closed. I think it is just fair to assume, that if I use a closed road, that I know what I do and I am allowed to do so.
What about alle the special cases in France and Italy, where you can apply for special permits to use specific (mostly off-road) roads and tracks? The assumption should be, that if I can access the road it is usable for me!Greetings
