Circle Route - Avoid Cities
-
At my Win 11 Desktop in Columbia, Maryland, I asked MRA Planner for a 1.5 hour loop, avoiding cities. The suggested loop ran right through urban Baltimore. Avoiding Baltimore would be the essence of avoiding cities! It was kind of funny, actually. Maybe this option could use a little refinement? I edited the route myself to take care of the issue.
Thanks,
Vinnie

Do you still have the original (wrong) route?Or do you want to share the starting point here. I think it would be interesting to reproduce this.

@Jack-van-Tilburg Sorry, Jack, I'm just catching up now... Let me see if I've still got the route. Or I can try making another circle route and see if it still puts me through Baltimore.
I'll get back to you within a day.
Thanks,
Vinnie

@Jack-van-Tilburg Here is an example of a loop created by MRA that runs right through Baltimore.

To be sure, it would be challenging fir MRA since I directed the app to create the route towards the Northeast, in the general direction of Baltimore, from my starting point. Still, this would have me riding right through downtown Baltimore even though I checked "avoid cities."

Have you adjusted the direction for your route with the compass?

Pretty harsh test!
It seems to work as well as can be expected for me:
I disabled all options but 'main roads' and went for very curvy & max height changes:Note that I went for 90 miles to give it chance to circumnavigate the city.
If you do 70 miles I agree it doesn't do so well.
Maybe have another go with a few extra miles, or go another compass direction as Jack hints.
