Problems with MyRoute-app and Android Auto
-
Hi,
Today I used MyRouteApp with AndroidAuto for the first time an I have to admit... I´m a little frustrated.
Is it intended that you first have to load a route on the smartphone BEFORE connecting it to the car via AndroidAuto ?
When you start the App AFTER connecting to the car, you can only select "last route", but the App doesn´t load the route even though there is a good connction to the internet. The Screen remains dark. (Picture 1)
There ist no menu on the map, so zooming in and out or skipping waypoints and so on isn´t possible at all. (Picture 2) You can only choose between split screen and full screen.
Voice instructions are only given to the first turn ; after that there is silence.
It seems, that MyRouteApp is disturbing the GPS-satellite reception, because after switching to GoogleMaps Navigation no GPS-Signal is received (according to the display on the screen). So far, so bad. Be asured I will test it a little more intensively in the near future.

@Harley-Stammtisch-Münster We’ve just deployed a new update (4.0.1) which contains improvements for Android Auto I’d suggest testing again with that version.
AA / CP development is our priority now
-
Until now there is no version 4.0.1 available in the Google Play Store....
-
-
I'm also having problems with Android auto. I'm not getting any sound for directions or cameras, the direction box top left either freezes or shows incorrect details and distance is still yards. There is no travel speed showing. Not sure which is the best map to use in the car and whether that has any bearing on what's displayed, and no zoom button.
Other nav apps work fine.
I am using a Google Pixel 7 with Android v13 in a Hyundai Kona. -
I made the update to version 4.0.1, but the app still doesn´t work properly. When I connect the smartphone to the car, I get the message, that the app needs some more permissions to work, but it doesen´t say what kind of permissions are needed....
-
@Harley-Stammtisch-Münster could you share a screenshot / photo of this message?
-
Sure. Here wo go.....
That´s what pops up on the screen of my mobile phone ; second picture shows what the map looks like on the screen in my car. No menu present except "search" (which doesn´t work) and "last route".
Meanwhile I got AndroidAuto 9.7.632214-release on my phone, which seems to make some other problems while connecting to a car. (according to the comments).
Also I still got the MRA "Navigation"-App on my phone. Could that be the problem ?
-
@Harley-Stammtisch-Münster thanks! And what happens if you press the request?
If you start navigating on the phone (and not AA), does your phone also ask for additional permissions?
If possible, please share a screenshot of your app permissions -
Hi again,
When I start the app without connecting to the car, everything works fine and I have no problems at all.I reinstalled the app yesterday, but the problems remain. Btw.: Is it intended that myroute-app starts automatically as soon as the smartphone is connected to the car? Is it possible to change that ?
If I try several times to connect the smartphone to the car, AndroidAuto no longer works and myroute-app doesn't respond either.
Just one more thing:
Sometimes a "red 1" appears on the smartphone screen next to the myroute-app icon (similar to a received email), but when I open the app I can't see any message. -
@Harley-Stammtisch-Münster thanks, we will investigate
-
First of all: Thanks a lot for helping me with my problems.
Here are some more strange things (maybe it will help you narrow down the problem):
First: A screenshot of the "red1" on the MyRoute-app icon
Second: When I connect without starting the app on the smartphone, the map on the car-display is frozen. It only shows the last actual position. When I switch to another navigation app (Google Maps or the built in navigation system) everything works fine.
Switching back to MyRoute-app, the new actual position is shown, but there´s still no movement by the map. When I start the app on the phone the map follows the actual position of the car and also navigating to a destination or following a route is possible, but there is still no way to enter any menu of the app. Only the map is displayed on the screen of the car.

@Harley-Stammtisch-Münster, The latest app update generates system notifications concerning the progress of map downloads and updates. If such a message is not dismissed, it shows by the number, or on some phones like mine as a simple red dot without a number.

Yesterday's update to version 4.0.2 didn't solve the problems either. Still no menu on the map and "click" on the MyRoute-app icon only toggles between full screen and split screen.
Loading the last route does not work either.
I have now downloaded the app to my wife's smartphone (Samsung Galaxy), but apart from a few minor things (MyRoute-app does not start automatically and no indication of missing authorizations), the app does not work with my vehicle.
Loading the last route does not work...
My car´s display still looks like that...
Loading a planned route on the smartphone.....
looks on my car´s display like that.....
And when I start the navigation on the smartphone.....
these are the only things displayed an the car´s screen.

Hello again after a long time,
I have the impression that little or no attention is paid to my problems with MyRoute-app in connection with AndroidAuto and my questions are slowly disappearing into nirvana.
I signed up as a beta tester and paid again for the app just because I wanted to use the app in my car too. I'm starting to think that I´d have invested the amount in something more useful.... -
@Harley-Stammtisch-Münster we have a new update coming out soon which includes work done to CarPlay and Android Auto.

@Harley-Stammtisch-Münster
Hi . I've been having the same issues with android auto and found a work around that's very helpful. I use another app called Macrodroid which let's me execute phone functions at specific occurances. In other words, I set a macro in the app to turn the screen on, then start myroute app, then turn the screen off whenever it connects to my car. No more reaching for the phone prior to connecting to the car. I now just start the car, wait for the android auto icon to light up on my dash and away I go. Loading routes is still an issue on the car screen but hopefully that will be fixed in the next update.
