Safety Camera Warnings
-
The speed camera visual warning is great! However, in the Settings menu it is only possible to select ‘Safety camera’ or ‘Always’, not both - see screenshot. So if you like to have the visual warning you cannot then have the audible warning, and vice versa.
Could it be made possible to select both options?

@David-Bonner Glad to hear you like it!
Regarding this setting "speed warnings" in the audio settings:- off: none
- safety camera: only play audio warning when approaching safety camera
- always: notifies if you are speeding at any point in time and warns you for camera's with an audio notification. Hence the name always
Does this help?

@Corjan-Meijerink Thanks Corjan, I misunderstood the settings. I have been using the Speed Camera option, and wondered why I wasn’t receiving over-speed warnings
. I am pretty certain there is no audio warning of speed cameras with this option though.
I will change to Aways from now on. Thanks for your help.
-
@David-Bonner no worries!
If you have a better suggestion as naming convention, do share
I thought this would be clear -
@Corjan-Meijerink Sorry but I don't understand the difference between the two options. Yesterday I coincidentally changed the option from Safety camera to Always and than received a lot of warnings driving on the A10 and A5 around Amsterdam without understanding why. I sometime received warnings every 200 meters.

@Arno-0 "Always" will play an alert whenever you are speeding and when speed warnings are approaching. I never use that one
"Speed warnings" will only play a sound when an actual speed check is approaching. (so like the above but without notifications when you are speeding at random points in time)
-
@Corjan-Meijerink I think once explained it is clear. However maybe 'Off', 'On' and 'Safety Cameras only' is clearer?
Btw, I also like that Average Speed Cameras are identified, with the speed limit displayed in the information box. I know that TomTom calculates and displays your actual average speed, so that you know how you are doing. There does seem to be room in the information box to display this and it would be a nice feature to incorporate if possible.

Can we set up alerts for Safety Cameras to have an audio alert when they are approach "Traffic Camera Ahead" or a beep of some description rather than just having the message on screen?
In terms of the Audio setting for Speed warnings maybe an information button (i) with a description would help "The app will alert you when you are over the speed limit an approaching a speed camera or the app will alert you whenever you go over the speed limit" type thing?
Hope that makes sense

@Tom-Wilmot if in the audio settings you have “speed warnings” set to “safety camera” or “always”, you will receive an audio notification about an upcoming speed trap.
Thanks for the idea
-
@Corjan-Meijerink Huh - Mine's set to Safety Camera - on my ride today I think I got a ding for a Red Light Camera but for a Speed Camera I just got the on screen notification no sound.
-
@Tom-Wilmot the ding for red light camera and speed camera is the same
However, sometimes the audio output is a inconsistent. Especially very short audio fragments sometimes get lost in the process somewhere
We are going to work on improving the stability (and configuration) of the audio output.

Hi,
as said elsewhere is the Ding sound is to short for Bluetooth. Before BT react, the sound is played already.
Is this sound file made by you? If you can edit the sound file, add half a second of silence or sent two. -
Suggested button naming;
- Off
- Cameras only
- All
Rationale:
- the 'Safety' part of Safety cameras is redundant
- 'All' is consistent with the other settings
-
@richtea-0 I agree with you, will change it

Good fix Corjan!
A tiny further improvement:
"Camera's only" text should be just plain "Cameras only" with no inverted comma.
