MyRoute-app : how can i disable recording
-
Hi
Just trying the new app and tying to work out how I can disable recording when on a route. I'm only interested in navigating to where I'm going using a pre-planned route. Not interested in recording where I've been. Just want the screen to be as simple as possible with no more information than i need on it. This is a crucial aspect when riding a motorcycle and avoiding distractions.
Thanks,
Tony -
Don’t puss start

@hans-van-de-ven-mra-master Thanks for your reply. Even if I don't push 'Start' (and ideally I don't want to see this option) I'm still seeing a yellow track representing where I've been. I'm not interested in this and don't want to see it (it's a distraction when driving). Is there any way of disabling this?

@anthony-black-0 OK, think I've worked it out for myself. When opening the app if you do not click on the 'Start Tracklog' button you don't see your track behind you.

@anthony-black-0
That is the button -
If you've clicked "Start" and you want it to go away, shut the app down fully (swipe it away on iPhone/close it on Android) then reopen.. Should have reset if you don't click "Resume".

Sounds to me if they've forgotten to program a "stop tracking" button!

The track is pauzed, just save it and the yellow line is gone.
To use the navigate option use the arrow -

To use the navigate option use the arrowHans, and if you don't want to save the track? You must force the app to stop and then throw the tracklog away after restarting the app. That's not nice programming...

Once you've opened your route and set the Navigation mode as explained by some of the other community members you can tap the screen once to hide every single User Interface element.
(Tapping again brings all buttons back)
Hope this helps!
Kind regards,

You're right. We believe so strongly in tracking (and I personally always just save 'garbage' tracks, as you can imagine, my profile and tracklogs aren't very tidy) that we didn't consider this. It will be available on wednesday. -
@timo-martosatiman-mra Thank you for the update. Since launche-date the topics on the forum go from left to right. Is it an idea to send an e-mail to all enlisted users with what's happening at the moment? Or am I premature on that?
-
@rob-verhoeff I've considered this. But honestly that would indeed be a bit premature: we now have a ready-made fix that sadly isn't even pushed to iOS users yet because Apple is taking their sweet time with the review process. Meanwhile the devs are already working on further improvements.
A second argument is that while our rating in the app store has fallen, the overall positivity indicators of the app are very good. Bad news just travels faster than good news, and sadly our shortcoming has upset a long standing and vocal (and by the way, rightly so) part of our community.
Once the Apple update has gone through I'll post an update notification.

@timo-martosatiman-mra just read this as posts all over the place. Thanks.

@timo-martosatiman-mra Just to point something out: My gut feeling tells me that all the people that leave Play Store or App Store reviews are NOT active on this forum, nor on Facebook. Therefore they are not familiar with what currently is going on with all the apps.
I think that most people that start with MRA, start with the web browser, and not with the apps. The apps follow and then one gets adjusted quickly I think.

@stefanhummelink That's partially true. The last app update proved that a huge portion of people only know 'us' from the mobile app.
In fact, I now finally understand why people insist on calling it "The MyRoute-app". Might as well be that a large group of people is accessing this very forum through the mobile app and not on their PC or laptop.
If a new member is onboarded as you say, through the website and then to the apps, then that's indeed the 'happy flow'.
