Track log functionality - compared with BaseCamp
-
Hi
I am in the process of migrating to MyRoute from BaseCamp. I have been a BaseCamp user for many years on both Windows and Mac. Now forced to migrate as Mac support is ending - I use Mac & iPhone when on the road, Windows workstation at home. I make 5 or 6 trips in the camper each year; each trip is between 9 and 21 days in duration.
Migration has been straightforward and I am generally very happy with the functionality, and the seamless way I can move between browsers on both Win & Mac, the iPad and iPhone apps. I found it easy to transfer files between MyRoute & my Garmin Camper SatNav and transfer POIs, routes, & track logs from BaseCamp.
I like to be able to display the complete trip on a map. I can combine multiday routes into a single route for each trip - this works well. It does not seem possible to combine the track logs - I am aware that you can create a new route by importing the track logs, but unlike the merge functionality when combining routes, which results in a single colour for the combine route, when I combine the track logs they retain the individual colours. Perhaps there is functionality to change the colour that I have not found. This relatively trivial - but I don't want to combine tack logs into a route.
Faced with this problem I looked more closely at the track logs which I imported from BaseCamp and I discovered that I cannot find a way to examine the detail of the log which I can do in BaseCamp. I have not tried to migrate the logs direct from the Garmin SatNav - but I suspect this would give the same result - please correct me if I am mistaken.

Can I display this information in MyRoute? or did I not transfer the route logs correctly?
Also I can save additional information the POI records on BaseCamp - in MyRoute I don't think it is possible to add link. Have I missed this functionality?

I was anticipating that I would be able to duplicate all the BaseCamp functionality - but it would appear the MyRoute provides all the planning tools for a trip, but lacks the ability to store all of the detail of the trip. I hope I am wrong as I really like the MyRoute functionality.

I don't understand why users expect MRA to duplicate every feature from every other navigation app. Simplicity is good. Focus on what MRA does well.
