@Richard-Veraguth hmmm - MRA-Routeplanner and MyRoute-App includes several different maps. Also OpenTopoMap and OpenCycleMap.
Because I can use it also for hiking, caravannig and travelling by car or by motorbike - it's my "Swiss Army Knife". So, I have all my tours together in one tool, and I don't need to learn a lot for operating other additional tools. I love it.

But for sure, there are more specific tools for each vehicle and for each purpose on the market. But is it worthy?

@Mike-Evans-1 Mike like you I am or now was a Basecamp user and very proficient in the use of it. I've had MRA for 2-3 years but only used it as a backup for the garmin satnav... This week and seeing as the Zumo XT2 isn't officially supported in Basecamp I thought I'd have a delve into MRA. I must admit it really is an excellent piece of kit and will definitely be my go to. Basecamp will be assigned to the digital cemetry in the sky..

@Leike-Lodiers Yes I have offline maps downloaded on the device.

In MRA each point is also snapped to an address.
TomTom Go is a trackbased only navigation.
PND devices like the TomTom rider can handle multipoint routes (ITN files) but also the trackbased routes
Both can be used as a good A to B navigation

TomTom never had a real managementsystem for your routes and never will have, i suppose. Otherwise it was already there.

Main goal of Plan.TomTom (TomTom Mydrive) is plan your trip and send it to your TomTom Device when done. Nothing fancy

Same here… was out for a ride today, me on the Zumo XT2 which was spot on for a change!!! 🤣
My mate on AA on the Carpuride through his Samsung mobile, was working flawlessly then we stopped for lunch… oh dear!!! Should never of bothered from there all the way home it was error after error , frozen maps, removing the app and reinstalling it, wanting to go back to the start… this I cannot get my head around if connected to a mobile phone just carry on with the guidance from the phones location unless I’m missing something?? And yes everything up to date, HERE maps used etc etc

Very very frustrating as we’re both pretty good with all things tech wise! We could not get the navigation to resume (in the right direction) whatever we did.

I have never skipped a point by hand, but if I would do it I would also be surprised if shaping points were not used in a calculation. I think that nobody adds shaping points for so not to be used. The setting effects which points (via points only or both via points and shaping points) get displayed in the info box.

@Ton-Machielsen ik gebruik soms een met kurviger web gemaakte track soms in kurviger v1 app. dan heb ik inderdaad altijd 1 op 1 route/track. hier wel herberekenen uit.

I always prefer to have a backup, that's why I have the BMW Connected app as well in case of an emergency.

But there is also the saying, many roads lead to Rom.🙃

@Con-Hennekens After a break of 3 weeks I navigated one of my standard routes again. Something has changed somewhere and the app doesn't work as it used to do. Something on a MRA server, my phone or on the here map. In my case none of the shaping points are skipped and I had to stop the app eventually. I have submitted a ticket so I hope the developers can have a look at it.

If you have selected the Offline navigation option, the app is offline. It needs to be online to check for map updates. So it’s just a couple of manoeuvres required to switch online, check for any map updates and then go back to switch to offline again.

@OGRIII, It is not for you to decide if it is a bug or not. That's a developers prerogative 😉 .

In this case I can be clear: it is by design. The straight line option to destination is intended just like that: fastest way to destination. Options like avoid highway are still respected, aren't they? People requested that as a measure against being send back into the route when deviating. Other people than you found it "a bug" when the route was respected while explicitly chosen for the straight line route. It's one or the other, with a possible solution I presented in my earlier post above. It's for the dev team to decide what to do with it. To be honest, I think there are more urgent matters, since you are the first and only one to complain about this.

@M-Schrijver It didn't recalculate on my other routes (I have the setting to automatically recalculate set to off). Maybe the shaping point is closer to the main road than the points I had on previous routes.
I totally agree that the app should not recalculate (with the recalculation set to off). When I have ignored instructions to drive a planned route then I can have made a conscious decision to do so and expect the app to be silent about the missed point(s), a non intrusive warning that I am deviating from the planned route would be fine. And as soon as I am back on the planned route the App should just forget about the point(s) which I skipped. Indeed when the app tries to send me back to the skipped point I miss the instructions to navigate to the next point.
Eventually I hope that this behaviour can also be the behaviour for via points (when navigation a route as track) but that's for another time.
