Avoiding roads with extreme gradients
-
Hello,
During my planned trips, I have occasionally encountered roads with extreme gradients (both uphill and downhill), sometimes even with cobblestone surfaces.
With the motorcycle fully loaded with luggage and carrying a passenger, this proved quite challenging, especially when faced with a stop sign at the end of a steep section; restarting on an incline, for instance one with a 25% or more gradient can be risky.
Since maps contain elevation data, would it be possible to set a constraint within the routing's engine to exclude roads with gradients exceeding a certain X degree? Thanks a lot

@Corrado-Miniati in the planner you can see the gradiënt so maybe you can decide yourself if that's to steep

Sure, but just as with avoiding trains, a feature built into the engine would be a big help.
I think you’d agree with me on that. -

Meanwhile you could use the AI planner doing just what you want -

In this case it also concerns safety, in a certain sense.
I am certain that Corjan and the MRA team will surprise us once again

This indeed not possible. Using the AI planner won’t help either. This data is simply not available for avoiding.

Thanks for the feedback, ok.
I thought it might be possible to do that by using the elevation data from the maps. -
