Google maps

A question for @corjan-meijerink - does it (google maps availability) involve an additional cost for MRA? I am just curious.
@Stanisław Definitely! Hence we did not have them at first and they cannot be selected as default.
We did expect people to miss them so I already had some things prepared for the request

Hopefully it won't ruin the entire business plan! I stopped using Tyre when I had to enter my own Google key to use Maps. Whether we like it or not, Google has the most detailed POI database. I could live without it, as now we can paste the GPS coordinates but many peapole could be disappointed. Thank you!

Oddly enough, as you are saying it seems that there were a lot of users that used Google maps, instead I find much more easier the Openstreet map and the Michelin map.
@Alexandre-Marcel Google maps is mostly used as a layer to check the route and where to find atm's, shops, tantstations, banks etc. I think google maps is not used as planning the route as navigation engine.

@Ed-Bos-0, no definitely not, only the map-overlay is used, not the routing engine.

@MotoCon What when I use the here Engine, but using e.g Google Maps as overlay, and the via and shaping points are placed according Google maps streets.
Will the navigation work perfectly with the app, or will I need to convert it to Here Maps after planning?

This has been available for Tyre to Travel for quite some time. With the free allowance, you never actually reached the point where charges applied. So you paiy nothing.
I’d like to see something similar for MRA, so that the links on the Google Map can be clicked on just as they are in Google Maps itself, and you can access the relevant information. -

They would need the be the one being licensed because they serve the data to you. In a standalone software program that's possible, but who wants to draw their clients into the Google API maze...

An overlay is just an overlay. It's the navigation Engine that defines the "real" roads, hence the differences between them. So no, when you are already using the HERE navigation engine, there is nothing to convert to HERE anymore
and it will work just fine for Navigation. -

Ok, I didn't know this. I thought you could do that online as well.
By the way, I’ve got an API key for Tyre and it wasn’t that complicated.
But never mind.
