Speed limits and gas display in app

I am sure I have read that before; it would be great to be able to see the speed limits when riding with application open but not following the route or track. I am thinking about just riding around, and tracking the way where I am going.
I do not know if this is possible without having a route open, but it would also be great to be able to see nearest gas stations. -
