Driving as therapy
We try to work at a very high pace at MRA to allow frequent Beta updates, work towards a great release and ensure everything else keeps working Unfortunately last week was a week where suddenly stuff stopped working - you might have noticed the MRA Navigation outage. On April 1st (not even joking) some related services of the app caused the app to crash fatally on all platforms when trying to start navigating
I worked all weekend and the issue was resolved for everybody Monday night by deploying an update for the app.
Recovery of hard work is also very important so what's the best remedy? Driving for hours on your motorcycle with the person you love
Day one (650km / 11.5 hours)
We departed home on Friday morning to get 3 hours of highway over with as soon as possible Lunch at La Roche sounded like a lovely idea!
We continued with a magnificent tour through The Ardennes where we enjoyed the lovely roads, great views and the Triumph
As seasoned driver (~100.000 km) & pillion (she has ridden around 40.000km on the back!) we kept going to Luxembourg. We always love going there as the views are simply amazing and the roads a bit more trustworthy
As the weather forecast wasn't as good and temperatures were still low - we had almost all roads and viewpoint completely for our own. We would just drive up some stairs, over a footpath and what else to take a nice picture of the love of my life and my passenger
Once we reached Vianden we enjoyed a really amazing dinner at a wonderful hotel! For those searching an accommodation there - I can totally recommend Auberge Aal Veinen.
Day two (430km / 6 hours)
Next morning we departed early once again as we had to be back in NL around 13:30 for my mums birthday & dinner with family. When the engine started it was still freezing but boy it was worth it. Beautiful views with the sun rising and riding above the clouds resulting in stunning views
After a couple of hours of scenic routes, we had to take a 3 hour highway trip back home. Slightly boring but the major advantage of a fun passenger is that they can double as DJ We were able to stay awake due to her wonderful playlist and reached the historical center of Harderwijk at 13:45 for a nice day with my family.
We made some great memories with each other and enjoyed 2 days of driving! 1300 kilometers really do relax your mind Now time for some Easter celebration, a day off on Monday and back to coding on Tuesday
MyRoute-app Beta test
Obviously this ride automatically served as a great test for the Beta program. The results were just as expected! App does what is should, looks great, navigation features are practically complete. Due to a new tankbag, I had to move the mounting position of my phone. This forced me to use the app in landscape mode. After 2 days of driving I can say that I have some great ideas to improve the app experience in that mode. Furthermore the location delay of your position indicator is indeed still very much present and annoying (not so much on scenic roads but yeah). Also there are quite some minor details that will be tackled along with all the community feedback as posted on the forumNote: I did not use CarPlay on this trip.

@Corjan-Meijerink
A well deserved break you both.Is that a Tiger Tank also?
-
@Lynchy67 thanks! It appears to be a Sherman

Looks like you had an enjoyable and well deserved break @Corjan-Meijerink . I have not been to Luxembourg for years and I have bookmarked the hotel as you have made me think about my route as I head across to Italy for a trip.
Look forward to hearing about your Landscape orientation ideas as I use my phone in this mode all the time for MRA navigation. Keep up the excellent work as a number of my riding colleagues are taking an interest in the new app and are impressed with how it looks and what it can do at the moment.

Almost, it's an M10 Wolverine, a tank destroyer derived from the M4 Sherman.
