In 2023 the Old Gits went to Italy – Lakes and Mountains. We booked 3 nights in the Hotel Rosa in Baveno on the shore of Lake Maggiore, and 3 nights in Fondo at the Hotel Lady Maria to give us access to the Dolomites.

just out of interest, did you find that the pre-planned time was correct with the actual riding time, between calais and Maggiore.

@paul69 I find the MyRouteApp web time estimates to be pretty good. 
Obviously, it depends how often you stop and how long for but assuming "normal" traffic then it's about +/- 10%, and that applies to motorways, main roads, country lanes or mountain passes.
That's riding at speeds that would potentially get a ticket 
but not an expensive one!

750+ miles in 2 riding days, the pillion boss would definitely not do that, i would have to overnight at least twice, and i imagine even three, but TBF i would also not use motorways, to get to Maggiore
i will bookmark that and play with it, and convince the boss to go back to connobio

@paul69 Different aproaches. You can take longer getting there on mediocre roads, limiting your time on the great roads or you can cover boring miles quickly so as to have more time really enjying yourself.
We had 9 days, that's either 6 there and back and only 3 there or 4 there and back and 5 there. For me, that’s an easy choice.
