Frequently during a ride you want to remember where something is, but not stop riding:

    • fantastic road, must remember where it was
    • this road is terrible, don't come down here again
    • what a view! Must come back another day
    • that pub would be a great stop next week

Pressing a button could 'drop a pin', and on you go. No need to define what it was - just remember this point.

At the end of the ride (or later, if cloud-stored) you can review the list of pins.

Trying to assign meaning to them ('good road', 'bad road' etc) from within the app - even after the ride - is probably too complex, but if they were added to the cloud-stored route, that might be a simple way to allow them to be named/edited.

But actually, our group would be very happy to have just the raw pin - literally a reminder that there was something at that point in the route, and step through the list (as a set of positions on the route map) and work it out ourselves.

@richtea999 while riding you can save your current location as favorite! 🙂

As of the next update, you can also edit favorites from the app. More on that tomorrow 😉

Another system besides favorites won’t be implemented in the near future. Might research POI usage for this but unsure how that would unfold!

Ah - very good point! That works well if parked up, thanks.

However it's 4 interactions (3-spot menu -> scroll -> Favourite location -> Yes) which takes too much concentration when rolling. 😱

Maybe the Favourites button (star) with an overlaid '+' could be shown when actively navigating, that acts as a single press 'Add favourite'.

Or maybe add a long press function to an existing button if space is just too tight?
I know long presses are a pain for users because no-one remembers them or can guess them at a later date, but then again space is at a premium.

You can do it like TT, one click on the street name offers you the option to save it in "my places" or (I forgot the other already, something to report about the map or speed) 🙄

            Hardware
            iPhone 12 pro (iOS 17.0.2)
            Oukitel RT3 (Andr. 12)
Samsung Galaxy XCover 4 (Andr. 9 Pie)
            Wireless CarPlay mit (Elebest C650)

but what @richtea999 is suggesting is about favorites. Pins are just a special type of favorites that are stored in a seperate folder to be deleted or completed/moved afterwards

I'd make do with a key combi mapping to get to the feature - like 'F' or 'AF' for Add Favourite. Anything to avoid 4 presses.

Then I'll beg Joost at BarButtons to map it onto a key / long press! 🤞

@richtea999, I actually think this is not a bad idea.
@Corjan-Meijerink, The actual TbT navigation module has no star (favorites) symbol like the mains screen does. I understand lack of screen estate, but I don't think adding that star would intervene much with the readability of the map (in both orientations). Another option would be to long-press the tracking button for this function, After all, it is something of a recording to record the current location 😉

I am not affiliated with MyRoute-App. The help I am offering is entirely voluntary.
I am just an enthusiastic user, and hope you will be one too!

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle.

@Corjan-Meijerink, well, if more buttons have long-press features, maybe some will start using them 😉
