Some suggestions for improvements which have occured to me after having used 3.2.9 for a few journeys, on the bike and in the car -

1 - On the motorbike I found the 'pull down' menu more difficult to use than the previous selection ‘grid’, requiring scrolling and more time looking at the screen (not the road).

2 - I use ‘Show route’ quite often to get a sense of the area. I would prefer to select this from the main screen, with a single press. Also, could the route overview automatically return to route guidance after a period of time - say 30 seconds? Perhaps with an overridable countdown bar? This would help with keeping use as ‘hands free’ as possible.

3 - Could there be a choice of maps for navigation?

4 - Speed camera icon could be considerably larger!

5 - The red ‘track’ button, compass, and menu buttons (bottom right) disappear if the screen is touched. I expect this is to allow more of the map to show, however I don’t think this is necessary and certainly the compass and menu should be permanently displayed.

6 - This is a minor point regarding the compass arrow, the yellow section of which points North. It may just be me, but it seems more natural to have the blue section, which is more visible, to indicate North.

7 - Initially I found it difficult to know which maps I had downloaded. The only indication is an absence of the ‘download’ symbol by the map. A more positive indication would be better, which could be as simple as a tick ✔️ by the downloaded maps. Presumably maps need to be updated from time to time. How does this happen and is user input required? Also, there doesn’t seem to be an option to delete downloaded maps.

8 - Regarding how a waypoint address is displayed in the top centre window, which is taken from the Route Planner to include the full address including postcode and country. This often makes the display too lengthy to fit in the screen, necessitating scrolling which is slow and often you miss the important information. The alternative is to to alter every waypoint address when creating the route, which is time consuming. Can I suggest this issue be looked at in a future release of Route Planner? Perhaps an option in Settings to include/exclude lines of the address, town, city, postcode, country as default?

Adding my own suggestions to yours:

2 - I use ‘Show route’ quite often to get a sense of the area. I would prefer to select this from the main screen, with a single press. Also, could the route overview automatically return to route guidance after a period of time - say 30 seconds? Perhaps with an overridable countdown bar? Maybe this could be accomplished by an extra touch on the compass needle. Not a bad idea I think. a push on he compass would then switch between normal driving mode, aerial overview, complete route overview, back to normal driving mode.

3 - Could there be a choice of maps for navigation?

Navigation is always done on the Here map. If I understood correctly, layers will be added, like in the default mobile app functionality.

5 - The red ‘track’ button, compass, and menu buttons (bottom right) disappear if the screen is touched. I expect this is to allow more of the map to show, however I don’t think this is necessary and certainly the compass and menu should be permanently displayed.

This was an explicit wish of many users 😉

6 - This is a minor point regarding the compass arrow, the yellow section of which points North. It may just be me, but it seems more natural to have the blue section, which is more visible, to indicate North.

I disagree. It is common habit for compass needles to be red to indicate North. White usually indicates South. So change of color would make sense, but not like your suggestion 😉

7 - Initially I found it difficult to know which maps I had downloaded.

      This is being worked on

8 - Regarding how a waypoint address is displayed in the top centre window, which is taken from the Route Planner to include the full address including postcode and country.

I understand your point, but as far as I am concerned I think this is a stretch towards too many options. If anything, this should be addressed in the planner, not in the navigation app.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

@David-Bonner Thanks for the feedback and @Con-Hennekens for already commenting.

1: I totally understand this! However, the new menu is received as prettier and easier to expand. Our vision is that all crucial features should be accessible from the main screen and you never need to navigate menu's while driving. That's simply something we won't stimulate 🙂

2: Indeed a crucial feature for which you should not need the menu! Therefore this can be achieved (in the upcoming update) by long pressing the compass icon.

3: Currently it's only light / dark - we have the ambition to allow more. The map provider (HERE) won't change.

        4: 👍

5: Thanks for the idea! Yet, as @Con-Hennekens also pointed out, others are very happy with this.

6: I think this is really personal to every individual - haven't received feedback before about this.

7: Offline maps will be greatly improved in a later iteration. I like the quick win idea of adding a check

        8: Good idea! 🙂

        Greatly appreciate all your feedback!

          @Corjan-Meijerink, about:

2 - I know you choose that with the best intentions (and that is valued!) but I kind of dislike that. The method of cycling though options is already used for the WP icon, so why invent a new method? Also on wobbley roads it is much more difficult to hold your finger then to tap twice.

6 - There are MANY webpages explaining how compasses work and they ALL talk about the RED needle pointing North. None of them explain WHY however. I suppose the reason for that is that the magnetized needle is considered a PLUS pole, and like with electronics, plus is associated with the color red. For South mostly chosen colors seem to be blue or white. My personal non-knowledgeable explanation for that: These are "cold" colors (Southpole is much colder than Northpole)... 😉

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!
