Using the RX Library with the Garmin Zumo XT
-
The RX Library is a fantastic resource that is clearly designed for use with MRA Navigation.
In my view however there are some things to consider if you are planning to export an RX route to the Garmin Zumo XT using GPX 1.1.
In my opinion the RX Library routes are routes that you are only going to use once, unless you live very local to a particular RX route.
With that in mind just be aware that any Via Points in an RX Route will also create a Waypoint for that Via Point in Explore on the Garmin Zumo XT.
If you are only going to run that route once I’m sure you don’t want those Waypoints lingering on your XT.I trust the Route Experts to give us fantastic journeys.
But I prefer to discover the journey for myself not knowing what’s coming up next.
Therefore my preference is not to use any Via Points at all in any routes that I get from the RX Library.
I therefore change all Via Points to Shaping Points and I strip out all timings and all Icons.
Personally I ride for the Journey and have no interest in stopping for museums etc (unless its a Motorbike Museum) but I do stop often to take in fantastic scenery that I know the Route Experts will provide. -

Hi Steve,
We make routes and write the reviews for everyone, including people who have little time to make a route, convert it, etc.
You don't have to do all that work, if you use the track instead of the route, you don't have waypoints and waypoins anymore. You then only have to convert from the Track by your XT to a journey. -

Brilliant, thanks Hans I didn’t think of that. Doh!
