forum updates of new items

i check forum sometimes a lot and select then read all if it is not my kind off subject. when i then check later i get update in form of new item but when i look mostly it is not new...
how does this work ?

@Bouke-Ent Sometimes someone edits their post, and you also receive those updates. If that update is just a marginal textual change, you will still see an update for that. Now, you only have one hour to edit your post. I've already noticed that fewer 'updates' are coming through.
