Keeps recalculate while on AppleCarplay

After selecting a favorite POI as destination with settings avoid highway, toll road and off-road and less curved roads the navigation starts to recalculate the route and kept doing this for almost an hour till I shut down. The navigation was presented on a Apple Carplay device.

Similar problem with recalculating on Android Auto.
In my case, I opened a pre planned route from work to home. I was half way home so it wanted to route me to the start (work) the back home. I skipped a couple of waypoints to get back on track and upcoming the directions just showed a refresh arrow.
I seen it before in other situations. Works ok a lot of the time, just when I try to change something. I was in a good phone signal area and have local maps downloaded.
