Navigation App Query
-
Hi,
I've just purchased the navigation app on a month's trial. All worked well when I took it for a test today. That said, if I want to run a route saved in my Route Planner section, can I gain access to this or other routes if I have no internet connection?
Thanks, Steve -
@Steve-25, routes wou want to be able to navigate completely offline, you will need to download them for offline use on a live internet connection first (the arrow pointing down when you open a route). When done, you can start en navigate them completely offline, provided that you have the off-line maps locally on your device. You can start such a route from your profile menu, when you chose "downloads".

Thanks Con. I have downloaded the offline maps. My question was more about gaining access to MyRoute-App in general on my iPhone when no internet connection is present. If that is the case will I be able to access my saved routes (one of which I will select and run the Navigate option). Hope that makes sense.

@Steve-25, you mean you want to activate a subscription without internet connection? No, you will have to login into the app like you login to a web page. You need a live internet connection for that. I cannot imagine that being a problem though. All devices that are capable of running the app are also capable of at least wifi...

@Steve-25 No, you must be on-line to access the web based route planner.

The question of @Steve-25 is relevant. In Schotland there is not always mobile connection and ofcourse also not everywhere wifi access.
On one day i had some issues with it.I was getting ready to went of from my hotel in Schotland.
I was standing outside beside the hotel. There was no wifi available on that particular parking spot. Mobile connection was also very poor to none.
When starting the app i needed to log in. Normally not necessary but now it was needed. After a few attempt is was logged in. But loading the online routes was nearly impossible. Luckily i had my route already offline. I started the route from the download map and went of.What does this tell me (us)
- Make sure you have your required maps as offline maps.
- Make sure you have your route(s) also as offline.
- Make sure you start MyRoute when you still have a internet connection.
As long as MyRoute is active, you can start your route everywhere you want. Even if there is no mobile connection.

Hi M, Thanks for this, you captured exactly what my concerns were better than I was able to communicate originally. Great lessons learned.
