How to import from Google maps?
-
Morning,
I got a link to a Google Maps route, how can I get this into MRA?
-
@Jörgen I haven't found a way in Google yet to convert it into a .gpx file and import it. But that might also be because I don't know how to do it!
-
-
@Jörgen Same here... not so good converter I guess?
-
@Jörgen kml2gpx should do the trick

Jörgen
hier wird ein Weg beschrieben aus einer Google Route eine GPX zu machen
Dazu muss man aber ein Google Konto erstellen.Versuche es mal. Ich habe dazu im Augenblick nicht die Zeit und Muße.

@Peter-Schiefer It's not aparticularly complicated map. I'd use the google waypoints and recreate the route in MRA. Keep google maps and MRA open beside eash other.
Probably the fastest way. -

Probably the fastest way.Mzokk,
to copy those few 5 waypoints from the list in Gmaps was also my first idea, but this was in my point of view not the intent of the question from Jörgen. There are a lot of ways to get to Rome

@Jörgen just use kml2gpx.com
Wirklich ganz einfach! -
@Rob-Veerman Google maps does not create an exportable KML file. Google (my maps) does but these can be imported into myroute (or basecamp for that matter) app as KML in any case no need for convertion at all.
-
Once the route is set in Google Maps, tap the hamburger menu.
Click Share, the journey link appears.
Tap Copy Link, go to the site MapstoGPX,
paste the URL and click LetsGo.Does that do the trick?
-
@Rob-Veerman don't think that site is operational at the moment
FATAL ERROR
Not valid Goodgle maps directions data
Please go back and check your Maps link and retry, if this error persists then please check again in a few hoursIs the current message

I don’t have a kml file, just the link.

The route needs to be created in Google MyMaps.
There you can export it into a KML/KMZ file. This files can be imported in MRA -
Thanks to Rhönschrat, for the solution.
With the App Scenic you can import the route from only the link.
If it is imported in Scenic, you can export a GPX file. DONE! -
@Jörgen is that the full name of the App? I'm seeing 'Scenic Map' and 'Scenic Motorcylce Navigation', amongst others...I believe the correct one to be Scenic Map, just want to confirm.
Thanks,
-
@GT-JWR it is the Motor cycle Navigation, because Rhönschrat is a bike rider

@Peter-Schiefer @Jörgen thanks guys.

@Jörgen downloaded the app, it appears that premium version is reqired to convert google maps to *.gpx...is that your finding as well?
