Timeline for snapshots of edits
-
Idea: introducing a snapshot function and a snapshot timeline into the soon to be overhauled ( ) planner? Something like this:
Example:
Sometimes you plan a route to a destination, but you are not sure whether to go over or under a certain in between city. This way you can plan until in the neighborhood of that city, create a snapshot there, plan northways, revert to the snapshot, plan southways, and consider the difference. You can consolidate the route by deleting the snapshots you don't want at the end.EDIT:
that second number 3 should have been a 4 of course -
@Con-Hennekens hmm, sounds very complex. Not sure how many users would even be able to use such a feature. I just modify the route until I get one I like.

Personally love the idea. I also know that this will be quite complex to make it intuitive. Our current revisions already work like this but that's for every edit, sequentially and till a maximum of 10 revisions.
Adding user defined 'snapshots' is definitely achievable once we start giving everything an overhaul

@Con-Hennekens I am not really sure if I understand your suggestion? Is this a kind of version of a route you want to organize?
By the way, is it a coincidence that you have exactly my home area in the detail?

Indeed. The Art is to make complex things simple

Thanks. I thought you were gonna say the programming is complex instead of the intitivity, so I guess that's a win already Maye, to make it less complex for the user, it can be limited to just one snapshot. Then it is more or less equal to the "Oopsy" button, but then to return to a previously defined stage in the planning.

More something like "I want to go to Winterberg, but I don't know yet if I will go north or south to avoid das Ruhrgebiet". You can plot both, and decide later.

Your and mine home area are not that far apart (Roermond area)
No I just opened a random route to draw the mock-up on.
