App crashed?
-
Running a 400 kms route today. Everything worked well except at a point I looked at the phone and the app was gone. Appears to have crashed. Restarted that app and it continued from where we were.
-
@Doug-Robinson I know some people have crash issues, but in this case, could it be an aggressive battery save setting on your phone?
-
@Con-Hennekens Battery saving is very unlikely to kill a foreground app*. It's designed to only to kill apps running in the background, for obvious reasons.
An overheating phone might cause it to close, to protect the hardware. Or a bug.
(*as long as you don't turn the screen off)

@richtea999, It could be that more aggressive powersaving methods trigger after a certain period of no interaction with the app. I don't think an app will close by overheating of hardware. More likely in that case is a spontaneous "hang", black screen or reboot.
-
@Con-Hennekens it was the first crash I've experienced while navigating. It was not shut down by power management or overheating. I had an overheating event on my S20 last week and it shut down all apps and would not run anything until the phone had cooled down.

@Doug-Robinson said in App crashed?:
Restarted that app and it continued from where we were.
Do you mean after the resume question, or without the resume question?
-
@Con-Hennekens yes, the resume function worked.
-
@Doug-Robinson, Great! I was asking since if it wasn't it would have been no real crash. But your answer clears that. That resume function is a great feature!

@Doug-Robinson
Has anyone else noticed that these Android crashes seem to be happening more frequently recently?
