Update 4.0.2
-
Hey everybody!
As you know, we like to keep improving the app! When we started Beta testing in December, we had an update every 3 weeks approximately. We'd like to keep the same pace now that the app has been released
The next update contains a lot of cool new features. All of them are direct suggestions from the community. The update will be available next week. So what can you expect in this update?
Completely new search interface
The previous search interface was very basic and not that helpful all of the time. We wanted to create a fresh new UI with quick POI searching and offline availability! We managed to complete it all and are happy to share with you that therefore the new update will have a completely revamped search feature.
You can now:
- Quickly search for interesting POI's
- Search for your own input
- See your history of searches
This all works offline too!
Note: you obviously do need to have offline maps downloaded. Offline maps are only available to people with a Navigation (Next) subscription.Besides that, your favorites are now also accessible when you don't have internet.
New menu
We want existing and new users to understand what MyRoute-app is all about. The old menu was sometimes slightly confusing and would redirect you to the website (within the app) which did not offer the best experience.By restructuring the menu and adding / changing some buttons, we believe the app becomes easier to use.`
In-app RouteXpert library!
As we want to offer users the best possible experience possible, we want to keep them within the app! Therefore, the library is now accessbile from within the appInstantly get access to nearly 2000 routes created by our RouteXpert community!
Click on a route to get a quick summary & description about the route.
Go to the info page to read the full review & download / use the route!
With this new in-app library, the world of MyRoute-app is truly at your fingertips
WunderLINQ + SilverFox support and improved experience input devices
In the settings you can choose which input device you are using.
Currently we support BarButtons, WunderLINQ and SilverFox completely. Other devices can be experimented with using the different (or standard) key mappings. We will share an overview of exact key mappings in a new post!
https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/4831/wunderlinq-silverfox-supportLow resolution screens
The experience on older devices / with lower resolution / uncommon aspect ratio was not optimal. Some buttons where unclickable, toasts with longer text were so large that it did not fit on the screen and other pages simply did not look so nice
We've improved the general look and feel for these devices and made sure the app worksBackground usage battery / location
Sometimes the OS would inform you that MyRoute-app would still be using your location or battery in the background. Even when you completely closed the app. This issue has been fixedAndroid back button
Clicking the back button on your Android device often resulted in unexpected behaviour. We've ensured this now won't happen again and the back button does what you expect.Browser improvements
Clicking back button (or tapping the Android back button) will now go to the previous browser page. If you want to close the browser, we've added a different button for thatWaypoint list shows arrival time
We already showed the distance and remaining duration to individual waypoints but not the time you arrive there. That's now addedMinor changes
- Default aspect ratio for the camera is now 16:9
- Announcements are not shown when you still need to complete the showcase (tutorial)
- Track navigation sometimes asked if it should be started as route (which isn't possible of course)
- Improved layout of the toasts
- Translation improvements
What's next?
We listen to all your feedback! The coming weeks however is a holiday period for most of the MRA team. We will continue with working on Android Auto & CarPlay (both stability & features). Furthermore, downloading the offline maps sometimes have some stability issues. We also notice that some people have issue with the used audio channels by our app.
Now I even left out all the great suggestions by you people!
Enough to keep as busyEnjoy the update and above all, enjoy your summer!
We will definitely keep working on the app but the coming two weeks, we will be enjoying some well deserved time offBest,

@Corjan-Meijerink Please enjoy your well-earned holiday! We'll be waiting for you here!

@Corjan-Meijerink great to see the improvements continually coming out!
Will the search function eventually be added into the navigation as well? And will it be able to add a destination to the route being navigated?
-
@GT-JWR yes - later on you will be able to search while navigating

I love the superb work that you and Joost have done to incorporate the RouteXpert Library into the app.
You can be riding a RouteXpert route with just a few clicks. Excellent, excellent work
It instantly adds an additional 2000+ routes to every members library. -
@Corjan-Meijerink great update! Enjoy your holiday

I'm encouraged by all the great work and improvements in the Nav app, well done. My main use is the route planner and exporting routes to BMW Connected which I find works effortlessly BUT, there's far too many occasions when the BMW Connected App doesn't behave (connection between the phone and Cradle) SO....wouldn't it be fantastic if BMW riders could bypass BMW Connected Ride and use MRA Navigation connected to the Wonder Wheel. The ability to zoom in/out on tours is a real bonus to many riders.
