    Hi, I have been riding motorcycles for 30+ years and using a GPS for the past 10 years or so. I have always found the GPS manufacturers software to be clunky and unstable. I have just discovered MRA and it looks really promising. However, I have stumbled at the first hurdle because I cannot find anywhere to download the app for my Mac ???

      Hello @Nik-Player. For Mac and PC, there is no downloadable app - you simply use the web application in a browser. In fact, the route planner ‘apps’ for iOS and Android aren’t really stand alone applications so much as a stylised interface of links to the web application. Try turning off wifi and mobile data and using the route planner app on a phone or tablet… endless buffering will be the result!
      That’s not to knock the system though, it works really well in my experience

      The Navigation app does have an offline mode, though it does require an internet connection initially to load routes held on the MRA route planner app servers. Once that’s done you can navigate routes without.

        Nooooooo, that's so disappointing 😖

        I won't be able to plan routes without an internet connection, which is not much use on the road.

        Back to crappy Basecamp I suppose.

          @Nik-Player If you have a phone signal and data turned on you will be able to create routes while on the road. And, unless you know something I don’t, you can’t use Basecamp ‘on the fly’ at all.

          The amount of data used to create a route, either in MRA Route Planner, or in the Navigation app, and to set it up in Navigation to run in offline mode will be small. Data consumption for navigating a route can be a bit more of an issue if data is limited in a phone plan, but offline mode works well in my experience.

          To use offline mode, you will need to install the relevant maps onto your device. To do so, just select the ‘Offline maps’ tile on the Navigation app home screen, select the ‘Download map’ button on the next screen, then choose and install the required maps.

              @Nik-Player
              If you're having trouble understanding Basecamp. Look at this guy's video's. All will be well afterwards. Still not as good as MyRoute-app, but it might help you somewhat.

                @pad-0 Basecamp requires no internet connection to function fully. I ride a lot in places where there is no cell coverage.

                  @nik-player Yes, absolutely, you’re right. That would require carrying a device that can run BaseCamp of course, which is not something I’d particularly want to do, but it is doable nonetheless. And something like the Microsoft Surface Go 3 would be a fairly compact and reasonably powerful way of going about it. Various means of accessing a mobile signal for data could be employed too, either inbuilt or via an external device… I’m almost selling this to myself as I type!

                  However, in addition to preferring to travel light, my focus is on reducing the amount of technology I rely on and the number of devices that need to be replaced at great expense, often simply due to manufacturers making them ‘obsolete’ for no good reason. This is where I hoped MRA would be ideal, but, to date, I have found the navigation side of its offering sadly lacking and I have reverted to using my Garmin Zūmo, which is really disappointing.
