Waypoints not exporting (using different nav apps)
-
Hi guys! Andrea from Italy
So I’m pretty sure I’m doing something wrong since I’m learning everything from zero, so excuse me if I’ll say something that does not make any sense.
I’m planning a ROUTE on the route planner and I want to export the gpx file on a different app like Osmand or DMD2 but whatever format I save the track in (1.1 1.2 etc) won’t show any of the waypoints I had planned on the route, is that normal or am I doing something wrong? I think I’ve understood that those kind of apps will only follow tracks and won’t use route, so maybe I’m doing something wrong in the planning? -
Hi Andrea OSMand will show a navigational track. Waypoints will be missing. If you create a route in OSMand then the waypoints will show.
-
@Mzokk but when I import a track from anywhere else that have waypoints, the track once on Osmand, it has the same waypoints that it had on the original file.
For example if I plan a route on base camp or download a track from wikiloc, I do have all my waypoints showed on the Osmand map, is there no way to export them from Mra if you are not using a garmin device ? -
@andrea-3m A track, where ever it comes from, has only 2 waypoints: start and finish. Thats it.
Only routes can contain waypoints. You need to use gpx 1.1 (route, track, POI) in order to see your waypoints in the route. -
I have just posted a similar topic. I am trying to export a route from MRA to the Beeline Moto app. No matter what format I save and export as, all I get is the track. I have tried gpx 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 with the same results.

@Robert-Smith-2 does beeline support routes with waypoints in it or only tracks?
-
@Guzt Apparently it does. There are plenty of screen shots of imported routes with waypoints showing. i have also raised a case with beeline to ensure i am not expecting something that doesn’t actually work
-
@Robert-Smith-2 it looks like beeline only recognizes the track in the gpx file which contains and the route including your waypoints and the track.
-
@Guzt Beeline support have been in touch and they have asked for my gpx file, which I have sent. They certainly claim to be able to import tracks and waypoints and show screen shots of such files. But I have exhausted all options of trying to upload various files, including calimoto, google maps etc. So will see what they come back with - thanks for you help

@Robert-Smith-2 Make a test route on kurviger e.g. [link text]https://kurv.gr/8J7xg(link url) (I just imported a gpx route made in basecamp) and export it as a route, including waypoints and import that into beeline. Just wondering about the result? Perhaps this solves your problem.
-
@Guzt I don't use basecamp, that is why I moved to MRA, so haven't tried that.
-
select export gpx 1.1 route and track. if you import it in osmand it will import both. in route you will see your waypoint, track is shown in background if you have that option on. be aware that osmand wil calculated route based on setting and given waypoint. it can be differant as in MRA.

@Robert-Smith-2 @Robert-Smith-2 didn't knew my English was that bad. If you don't have a free account on Kurviger, make one first. Log in and then click on the link given above. Save that route as route + waypoints and import it into beeline in order to see what happens.
-
@Guzt Sorry, misunderstood. Your English is excellent. I will try tomorrow. Thanks
-
Regarding the Beeline Moto, I believe you can import routes but the output is always a Track.
-
@Lynchy67 I have come to the same conclusion, although they advertise you can import a route with waypoints and the support guy who I have sent the gpx too, seemed surprised it didn't work and only imported a track. This is not a big issue for me, track is ok.
