      Hi

I have two Androids, side by side, both the same model (don't ask ...) One, let's call it "A", is behaving perfectly. The other ("B") is having problems downloading offline maps.

"A" has no SD card. "B" has. I think that s the only difference. I have tried re-installing MRA twice on "B" because I seemed to be having navigation problems. On the first occasion it downloaded all Europe maps quite happily but next time I want to use MRA it said I should download the latest update so I went to Offline Maps, hit the button and nothing happened. I mean NOTHING. It froze the device completely and it must have taken me 10 minutes to figure how to force a reboot, because Mr Google didn't have any suggestions that worked!

Having reinstalled MRA again onto "B" (MyRoute-app 4.1.1-295) I am trying to install some Offline maps and have the error message "Could not fetch latest map update information" and it refuses to load any maps. However, "A", only 0.5 meters away will install a map without problems.

      Please can you help me?

By the way, there is an option to "Store data on SD card" it doesn't seem to make any difference, but should it be green or red?

      Thanks very much

@Christopher-Austin green will store maps on the SD card. It sounds like your unit B has network issues. Likely a hardware failure. Does it have a sim card and data? Did you try without using WiFi?

Thanks for such a quick reply. Yes, I have a sim card and data (actually it is my main phone). I have just turned wifi off and tried again, this time it spun it's wheel for a few seconds (new behaviour) and then I got the same error message.

@Christopher-Austin does everything else work properly? Facebook, YouTube etc? Do have a firewall or other routing software that could be interfering with your network? Possibly a proxy server?

              Thank you so much!

The problem is NOT MRA, thank goodness.

Following on from your tips I did this:

Disconnected wifi and connected mobile data: a download worked well.

Connected wifi and connected mobile data: a download worked well.

Connected wifi and disconnected mobile data: a download worked well.

How does that solve the problem? I have no idea, and don't care ... it's fixed!

By the way, I'm again getting the "Download update message (current v.115, New v125)" and am scared to try it. Any thoughts?

@Christopher-Austin no need to be scared.
But do know that map updates are so insignificant that if you are happy with the maps you got, no real need to update them 🙂

Thank you Corjan, I'll ignore the update message.

@Christopher-Austin glad to hear it's working for you even if we don't know why. I do know that sometimes Here has poor response time and network issues cn cause problems. As far as map updates, I generally update at the start of riding season and before a big trip.
