"Taschenrechner" while biking? Translation needed !
-
I had never understood why I should use a calculator when riding a motorcycle.
(In German you need it to calculate more difficult mathematical functions
) So i opened that item in the toolkit menu of HERE. and discovered a great function. I can calculate the distance and time between 2 waypoints on my tour. Very good, I've always missed that.I would therefore rename the menu item because it sends you in the wrong direction
Replace "Taschenrechner"--> with "Streckenberechnung".In addition, i would also adjust the following points:
- In the sentence "Berechnen Sie die Entfernung und Zeit zwischen" I would drop the word "die" before "Entfernung". Sounds better in German, and
- Replace "Zeit" --> with "Dauer".
- The text in the button "Berechnung durchführen" should be left-aligned so that the text fits in one line. Or / And extend the background of the switch a little more to the right.
- Drop "in Kilometer" from the white result block. That's already behind the numbers!
- replace "Entfernung in Zeit" with "Dauer".
- The English spelling of "0h 8m" should be replaced with "00:08 Std."
- The separator at "43.60 km" in German is a comma "," and not a period "."'
- In the PC version the grey "Entfernung" and "Dauer" fields are slightly up to fit in the white block.
- In the app version, the white block overlays the switch label. However, if this is left-justified in a line, as described above, this problem is also solved.
Because it's a lot of stuff in writing, I've roughly adapted it as a drawing. I hope this can be understood in a better way than my bumpy descriptions. (I just see, i forgot the icons in the white box )

Hi, thanks for all the suggestions for correct German. You just have to keep one thing in mind, in German everything is always much longer and gives the app makers a big headache to get everything on the screen. If possible, always suggest the shortest option.

We should get together and talk about the app, we only live a few kilometers apart.

@Ronni Once again, thanks so much again for the improvements. I will definitely implement these in the coming week.

Thanks for saying that, it can indeed be very annoying how a short word in English becomes a whole sentence in other languages
This statement therefore is very true: shorter = better -

@Ronni I made sure most changes will be applied in the next website update. However, some changes are not possible.
The English spelling of "0h 8m" should be replaced with "00:08 Std."
The separator at "43.60 km" in German is a comma "," and not a period "."'Those are not possible as the website does not support this

All textual improvements will be applied next week!
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Jörgen, I'll have this in mind next time.

Hi Corjan, I almost thought so. Perhaps it is possible just to replace the english "h" = hour with "Std." = Stunden?

As fast as ever.
