@Corjan-Meijerink said in Navigation is still running when the unit is switched off: That’s another point of discussion @David-Bonner But we can agree that locking your screen won’t ever result in the navigation session being terminated. That’s just something you don’t want and no app does NOTE: Related to BMW Connected App Only! Interestingly, over VERY many interactions with the 'Ride Connected' team (BMW Connected app). They make a point, and indeed have real issues (predominantly with iOS) with the phone screen being switched off. These of course may be technical issue not present in MRA. All I know (over 5 years and 4 motorcycles) powering the screen off allows the connected app to sleep (and therefore fail) and indeed, allowing another app focus (e.g. spotify) can also allow the app to sleep. Caveats: BMW have to display on the TFT (not the phone) so why would you navigate with the phone off with MRA! MRA do not have the media, phone issues, BMW have This is purely, In my experience an iOS issue irrespective of settings in iOS for the app. e.g. 'Always allow xxxxxxx', 'Precise Location', 'Network Access', etc.

So I've done the permanent install. Wired the power supply into the bikes switched accessories power via this kit... Electrical Connection Update Kit Routed harness to the right side of the bike and installed the power supply there... [image: 1683419248220-247657db-2474-45df-aeab-d91d003ced57-image.png] [image: 1683419271880-34bc0722-9b46-4584-8187-f1b7e599cfd1-image.png] Wiring routed up through the backbone of the frame and out the left side... [image: 1683419365825-0f57eb23-c302-4418-a3a9-0366676adf51-image.png] Display mounted. Phone resides in windshield bag with power routed to it from the USB port. [image: 1683419385636-a37ff2d7-59b9-4d65-baaa-c288447aeaf4-image.png] The red arrow points to a Chargie... https://chargie.org/ As mentioned before... The Chargie manages battery charging and temperature. AFAIK there are generally two ways to get this kind of control... Software which requires rooting the phone and this hardware approach. The Chargie works pretty well for this task. Overall I'm pretty pleased with this setup. The phone (battery/heat/cold/elements) won't get stressed and the CP/AA display works great. I've tried an intercom system with it. Everything pairs and works as expected. As discussed before.. Some had mentioned that they don't like that the display unit doesn't have an internal battery to prevent power cycles/reboots when you start the bike etc. This has absolutely not been a problem. The display unit powers up and reconnects to everything within 30 seconds. If you had a Nav session going before shutdown (say stopping for gas), the route/navigation session is still there when the system reboots and reconnects. The only nit that I've found so far is that the BINIZE unit's firmware version doesn't yet have the Android Auto volume controls. Other "brands" have already provided the firmware update for that. Right now I'm using my iPhone, so it's not a problem. But sooner or later, I'll want to update the firmware.

@Corjan-Meijerink I also saw that the higher screen sensitivity was disabled for some reason. Maybe with the latest update as I normally had it set to on. . This could explain some issues I had today.

@Corjan-Meijerink Yes I agree, also the font (distance to next waypoint) on the next waypoint icon in the top right corner is hard to see at a glance, if the front size could be just a little larger it would make all the difference.

@Nick-Carthew Thanks for your reply, I didn't realise there was a cost involved. I had noticed that from what3words i can hit "Navigate" and it gives me the option to use "Google Maps", "OsmAnd" and "Garmin Drive" but not "MRA".

I fully agree that the information for the next waypoint is unnecessary and disturbing. I have disabled it on the screen layout, but it still shows up by the instructions.

@Corjan-Meijerink Totally agree, for those of us that are 50 something with ageing eyes, the Red position indicator is great.

@Corjan-Meijerink said in Simulating a GPX1.2 Route in MRA Navigation Next: track navigation cannot use any waypoints by design, we could show them (or only viapoints as with gpx1.2) on the map but that would be confusing too as they would be purely visual and wouldn’t offer functionality. I am not sure if I agree with this completely. Viapoints, and also shapingpoints can be colored (which has a meaning) and notes (that usually have a purpose). Showing those on a track may have no value for calculations, but certainly for informations.
