Blocked road
-
Various threads on blocked roads, but think this is a new question.
I was out yesterday evening and unfortunately there was an accident that had just closed the road in front of me.
Is there an option to "avoid blocked road" while navigating? I was also using Android Auto and suspect of there is an option I would have to go to my phone.
I was online and had traffic information, but this problem did not appear on the screen. it was a very minor road and not many vehicles affected.
The route I was navigating was a simple route to a destination with no added waypoints. -

I think this is the reason why you are not being redirected. You already mentioned that the road was closed just before you arrived. Additionally, I wonder if accidents are taken into account in the active route calculation. Who is responsible for reporting this? MRA is not built like Waze, where fellow users passing by a stationary vehicle or an accident on a road segment notify the application that something might be wrong, prompting it to start recalculating your route.

I suspect Here is the provider for traffic info. My opnion of Here traffic info, is that is not very accurate. The few times a used HereWeGo is saw also inaccurate traffic info. It is not inaccurate on it self but the info comes late and it takes a while before it is gone. That makes it inaccurate.
Google Maps and TomTom have far more accurate traffic info and they also pretty quick with that info when an accident happens -
thanks, I would be surprised if any system picks up all the small incidents.
What I really wanted to know what is the best way to get around a blocked road. In TomTom there is a specific instruction. i don't think MRA has this but wondered how to do it? -
@Tony-13 In the scenario that you experienced, I would suggest that as the incident was fresh, it’s doubtful that any diversions were in place, so I would have stopped your A - B route, driven around the obstruction and then entered your destination again into the app.
