Trial run today - 3.2.8 (151)
-
I gave the app a trial run today, on my Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max
Some comments:
-
It generally worked very well over a 70 mile journey.
-
It did though crash at the end, just before the finish.
-
It sometimes didn’t show the motorway exit number but sometimes it did. Marked A
-
It sometimes showed the next manoeuvre AND the subsequent one after. Sometimes it showed the next subsequent manoeuvre but NOT the one after. Marked B
I am not entirely sure of the value of showing the subsequent manoeuvre after, as it is very small in size and the manoeuvre possibly miles away.
Good points:
The map is very clear
The lane marking pop-up is very clear
Clear voice instructions
Reasonably intuitive to use

@Richard-18 Thanks for the feedback! To be honest, all the points you mention are details we are continuously improving on
Sounds like a great test result to me!

Thank you for the quick reply. I really like the way MyRoute are being open with the comments made by ‘testers’ and in their replies to the ‘testers’ comments.
The overall style of the MyRoute app, at least when displayed on my large iPhone, is really good. Better, I think, than BMW’s own Connect app (which of course only works with BMW bikes) but which is slowly getting better too.

@Richard-18 Thanks for your kind words

It was indeed a ‘Good test’ in that, bar the crash, it all worked really well.
All I had to do was amend the simple A to B route (which would have been perfect on a motorcycle or even a car) with one single waypoint (shaping point, in Garmin speak) to force the route to alter, simply as I was driving an eight metres long motorhome and wanted to avoid some small roads in north London. Here a bit of local knowledge was good but a bit of zooming in on the map would have shown - even someone who had never been to London - the first route was maybe not perfect for a large motorhome around a city’s streets. Sometimes any software just needs a little help (and imagination) from the user.
The test, though good, was of course in my motorhome, which is sometimes very different from being on a motorcycle. But, on the basics at least, it all went well and, I guess, would have been the same had I been on my motorbike.
Keep up the good work.

@Richard-18 Thanks, we will keep up the good work!
Local knowledge is always very important when creating routes. Regarding motorhomes specifically, we aim to implement this in the routeplanner software before summer. Allowing users to enter dimensions of their vehicle (length, width, height etc) to ensure the calculated route is suitable for them!

The addition of a large vehicle (like a motorhome) where you can put in the vehicle’s details would be very good.
At the moment I either plot out the routes myself or I use Garmin’s very good ‘large vehicle’ GPS device if I am too lazy to create a route myself.
Having it all on MyRoute would be very good, not least as I have a motorbike towed behind.
