Android Auto using routes offline
-
Hi. I am just coming to the end of a 3 week holiday touring in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada. I am from the UK and have used MRA as my main route navigation system linked via Android Auto to my hire car. I have done just under 4000 kms using this system and over the days have become pretty experienced. All the Navigation has been done offline as I did not want to pay roaming data fees. Overall I have to say the system has been excellent but I do have a few comments. Connection to Android Auto is not always successful first time. Sometimes the cable had to be removed and reinserted for MRA to start. Sometimes, for no apparent reason after being fine for a couple of hours, the map would disappear off the car screen but would stay on the phone. The information box for the details of the next turn and audio would stay working. The phone can get very hot after maybe 4 hours. I took to removing the phone from its case to keep it cool. I discovered I could turn the phone screen off which helped and it still sent the route to the car. Sometimes, the position of the car on the car screen would freeze on the map....but looking at the phone screen it continued to track properly. Sometimes, there was a short lag between the map position and the cars actual position which could be a problem in cities as it caused me to miss a few turns. Finally, despite downloading the route offline and having the maps downloaded onto my phone, when attempting to start a route it kept coming up with a message saying it needed to go online to calculate a route. I found if I just ignored this message by tapping the screen, it usually did take me to the start navigation box and worked. So overall, bearing in mind it was a 3 week. 4000km test, I think it worked very well and would now consider buying a motorbike with the capability on Android Auto and using my phone and MRA as my navigation system. I currently use a BMW nav 6 on my motorcycle and BMW owners will all now about the problems... I am on my 4th... Well done MRA app next

@Gary-ccam Thanks for posting this!
We are indeed working on the stability as we are on features!
Battery usage (and thus heat generation) is a known issue and we are working with HERE to get it resolved. The root cause is within their software.Well done MRA app next
Thanks
