Offline maps
-
Hello! Used the newest version for a long motorcycle ride yesterday, and had some spotty cell coverage along the trip. I kept getting the display asking if I wanted to use offline maps (I had loaded my area a while ago when using the original NAV app). This happened probably 6-7 times. The voice instructions seemed to keep going, but the displayed route was not correct. I'm curious why the need to ask if you want to revert to offline maps; of course you do. Should be a given! Why not make it an option, and dont ask at all?

@Roadkingtc88 it was a deliberate decision to leave this decision to the user to get feedback more quickly as it is obvious in what mode you are driving. Also, we were not yet able to discover if the area you are driving in has been made available offline. If not, enabling the offline mode makes stuff worse

@Corjan-Meijerink Made a day trip yesterday in the Sauerland where I went 2x to switch to offline.
Both times it was indicated that the App had crashed and these reports were forwarded immediately.
The first time I got a white screen on my iPhone and the second time I got the map right away.
Especially the first time it was very annoying because I could no longer follow the route and only after quite some time (15 minutes I think) could I choose the right route again at a different location. The result was that I first had to skip 12 points manually again. Very annoying.
I use the iPhone 12 Pro, wireless connection CarlinKit 4.0 AppleCarPlay on the Honda NT1100 DCT.
When I'm tomorrow at home, I wil try to send the photo's I made -
@Siepermann-Ronald Thanks for sharing. Especially as CarPlay isn't finished yet, I can imagine that the process of restarting was quite tedious. You did have the maps downloaded on device?

@Corjan-Meijerink I had installed the maps from Germany and the Netherlands on my device

@Corjan-Meijerink Used iPhone 12 Pro, Apple Carplay on Honda NT1100, MRA Next version 3.2.12 - 165, connected by CarlinKit 4.0
Today a ride from the Sauerland to home (Rhenen). While driving the route, the app crashed twice and the image on the screen of the iPhone and Apple Carplay remained "stuck".
The iPhone did not respond at all to touching the screen.
After I started MRA Navigation via the Apple Carplay and started the latter, the screen of the iPhone changed. The previously displayed route had disappeared and I had to restart the Next App again. After removing the necessary intermediate points, I was able to follow the route on the screen again.
When this happened again went straight to MRA Navigation and started it. Then back to Next and then I did hear and see the directions. Shortly afterwards the route came into view again and it went well.
