Suggestions for MyRoute app
-
Hi,
if you could implement some little things into the already awesome MyRoute app, every motorcyclist in this world would thank you!
These would be the features that the french app Liberty Rider have: the accident detection and the leaning and speed warning on tight curves. These features are literally life saving!
In addition, one feature that I would LOVE is the possibility to define a "time till waypoint X". For example, when you define a waypoint, to check an special option for that waypoint to show it on the screen while guided, "Time until waypoint 27". This would end the pillion's "Are we there yet?" 1000 questions
Make them GOLD features and and I'm yours for life!
Thank you and keep up the good work.

@Vlad-Popovici-0 Thanks for your awesome suggestions! Much appreciated.
The first two aren’t currently scheduled. The last one you mention is something we will have implemented with the release of Navigation Next!

@Corjan-Meijerink This is nice! Well I would love to see it in the MyRoute app, since I use it over the navigation one, but I guess, in time, the navigation one would be a real alternative too, for me.
For now, I don't use it because I really want the route I planned to stay unaltered, and the Navigations tries to reroute between points. Or maybe I didn't studied it enough and I am doing something wrong. Also if you find a way to use the Waze's language packs for voices would be awesome. Having your own language to be guided with is gooood.
About the first two items, one is quite easy to develop. You just set 3 levels of threshold for high G on the accelerometer, Low, Mid and High. If you measure the one the user opted for, you start a X seconds countdown, if not canceled, you call the contact set in the app and play a wave with "I had an motorcycle accident" .
The latter should be done this way (simplest opinion). You check the actual position all the time with the next node on the current way and the next node after that, and this way, having 3 position, you can calculate the angle between the ways. Then you make a calibration curve for over limit speed for the given angle x = y * slope + intercept. Then you give a simple warning "Speed too high".
These are pure gold (pun intended :)) for beginners, and could save some lives.

Generally, if a route is being altered by a device or an App, it is an indication that not enough Route Points were added at the planning stage.

@Corjan-Meijerink, I read that Next will have Flitsmeister implemented earlier. Does that not take care of the first "wish" above (accident warnings)? At least for countries where Flitsmeister is active?

Either that, or it means that the device or app could benefit from supporting navigation using a pre-calculated route (a.k.a. track) directly...

@Con-Hennekens Yes it would. We are however still working on the details. Will need some more time to officially confirm whether or not FM will be added.

I love the Tom Tom algorithms set to High, as they take me on lots of country lanes, particularly those with no pavements for pedestrians.
My device is a Garmin XT so I plot the waypoints over the TT Track and then switch to the Here map.
It’s a bit of a faff but the end result is worth the effort.
