change road type after starting navigation

Re: change road type after starting navigation
I am still missing this functionality
it is not only used on A to B routes -
@Lisi-Mayr I'm not quite shure what you're asking
-
@Marinus-van-Deudekom
I select a planned route (avoid highways) and start driving the first part. Suddenly, circumstances change (weather, time, etc.), and I want to continue my route including highways. Unfortunately, I can’t simply select “allow highways” in the settings.I have to stop the navigation, confirm with “No” that I don’t want to start this route again, then reselect the route. If I’m lucky, “last route” works, where I can then allow highways and restart. It takes time to find the current waypoint or I have to go back into the menu and select the current point to continue navigating from there.
-
@Lisi-Mayr OK it's clear to me now. What you is not an option because that had to do with the planning bit in your route
-
@Marinus-van-Deudekom garmin, tomtom and others have this option.
-
@Lisi-Mayr that does not mean that MRA has to implant the feature.

That can be done automatically "start from nearest waypoint".
I honestly still don't feel like there's a lot of support for this.
Route planning and navigation are separated quite nicely now. Doesn't take that much more effort to really change all your routing preferences. -
To be honest, this is a function that I also miss in MRA.
After years of using the TomTom Rider, I got into the habit of switching between motorway and motorway avoidance depending on the situation. Of course, this depends on the waypoints you set. But I took this into account when planning and set waypoints so that I could change the route by driving with or without the motorway. -
I also agree with this function.
-
I would also like to see this function/option.

...but it would be a smart move!
That sort of feature is how you get Garmin and TomTom customers to join MRA. And that income improves the app in future years. And we all win.
Well, except for Corjan who has to sit in a dark room thinking very hard.

In all honesty, I think people voting for such a function do not realise the implications of it. Meticulously planned scenic routes with waypoints will be really messed up once you change the allowed/disallowed roads. Waypoints are usually NOT on highways, suddenly preferring highways would make one go on and off highways like bezirk.
If you want to shortcut your route due to weather or whatever, that can be done easily by skipping waypoints. If you plan your routes allowing highways (but avoid them by enough waypoints) you will be directed over highways too, if they are quicker. I ALWAYS plan my routes allowing highways, and lead around them by waypoint placement, and if needed I can easily shortcut this way.
-
@Con-Hennekens Sorry but I do not agree with you:
-
Not everyone wants to always go into that level of planning , particularly if you have used the tools available to ‘Avoid Highways’.
-
It is also a reasonable request to then want to be able to remove or add road filters depending on how you may want to change your ride. I plan routes meticulously but there are occasions when I want to change those plans for a number of reasons and not just weather.
-
I do think people are aware of the implications which is why they want the option to add/remove filters and skip waypoints; I am one of those.
-
People use MRA in different ways and not always to plan meticulous routes that cater for every eventuality. Some flexibility is needed as the app matures.
-
-
i do not change my route but i just then stop it and make an other route on te fly. that can be direct to my end point or make a scenic route because i have more time.

Sorry but I do not agree with you
No need for sorry, you are entitled to your opinion, and venting it here is useful for development. I just don't think changing allowed roads is going to change anything to a scenic route to anyone's satisfaction. The two principles are contradictive, and therefore most likely disabled for multi-waypoint routes on purpose.
-
If I want to change the road type or other option I simply stop the route and then restart with the options I want. The auto start from the closest WP makes it quick and easy.
-
@RetiredWingMan, there you go!
