Offline navigation test
-
Went for a ride to test Offline navigation. Overall it went well with no crashes. Battery usage was less than I have previously see. Tracking was lagging and jittery.
-
Ran into a few strange things. The phone did have data service. When I left I had to travel to the start point. On the way there the turn indication and voice prompt told me to go straight but the map showed a right turn which was the correct option. Twice I was on Hyw 35 and preparing to turn right off the hwy. The screen showed I was on hwy 35 but it also indicated that I was to turn onto hwy 35! In each case I was turning from 35 to regional roads.

On the way back a couple of times a white flag was displayed on the screen. I've never seen this before!?!?
-
At one point the voice said I was to turn left up ahead and then I would reach my destination. This was early in the route. Navigation was unaffected.

@Doug-Robinson thanks for the feedback! Did you navigate it as route or as track? The flag icon you saw is typical for a track navigation thing
-
@Corjan-Meijerink It was a downloaded route. I have never seen these strange directional errors before.
-
@Doug-Robinson question on the turn instructions ... frequently I'm riding regional roads with a number assigned and is displayed like RR4 but may also have a name such as Little Britain Road. The turn instruction only displays RR4. Is it possible to also display the road name when one exists? RR4 - Little Britain Road

Did some more testing today. For the most part navigation was fine but for some reason the next waypoint at the top of the screen skipped ahead by 4 waypoints. See the enclosed screen shots. I was able to fix the first time by long pressing the next waypoint on our route to "skip" to that waypoint. A short time later I noticed that the next waypoint was skipped ahead by 4 waypoints again !?! My second attempt to "fix" the error failed on the restart. While the situation initially caused some confusion, navigation, turn instructions and voice prompts all continued normally.
I remember that MRA Navigation had an option to pause navigation when the screen is turned off. This useful when stopping for gas, breaks or lunch and would allow restarting navigation where we stopped. Perhaps we can get something like that in MRA Mobile Next.

@Doug-Robinson For me it would like to see only the turn in my route on the screen, not the form-points like you show in one of your screendumps.
Would it be possible to change that?
