Suggestion: Partnership
-
Hello
This suggestion is not about ideas for the application, it is more of a “commercial” suggestion.
In recent months I have tested several navigation applications but there is always some detail missing and it seems to me that the MRA may come to meet my needs for an integrated navigation application (route design and navigation), I have also tested some solutions for mobile phone support on motorcycles and have also found a winner
So I have an elected for software and one for hardware, and this is where my suggestion is born that MRA develop a partnership with SP Connect and "offer" a complete navigation solution for motorcycles; Cars; 4x4; bicycles...)
Think about it, it could be something interesting for the launch of the application planned for the summer of 2023. Note that I spoke in SP Connect because it is the option I took, but there are other good solutions for mobile phone support, such as Quadlock.
I also want to congratulate this excellent community that has contributed positively with great ideas for the new APP.
Congratulations to MRA and all of us -
@Jose-Pinheiro-0, I completely agree; I ride myself also with an SP Connect smartphone mount with wireless charging, works perfectly!
-
Let's focus on the core business and make MRA the most interesting route-making-and-navigation-app in the world. I don't see the need for a "partnership" with a phone holder manufacturer. That distracts attention from what is really important: a rock-solid app!
-
@Jose-Pinheiro-0 what would be the added value for mra to partner with one company making hardware instead of letting customers choose?
-
@Drabslab Partnership between two, or more, companies do not force the customers to buy the products from both companies together. The customers could always choose what to buy.
The value added for MRA could be the existence of a bundle offered in phone mount company(es) site that include a MRA subscription.... But I'm not a market expert and maybe this do not make any sense at all
Let the time and MRA people decide, we just launch the ideas and I'm sure thar someone ln MRA will filter it -
Thank you for your suggestion, any suggestion really helps us form opinions and ideas. So congratulations to you too ;).
However, we're not doing this right now. As time progresses we'll probably try things like this again.
On this forum I've always taken the risky chance of being transparent and open. I'll do that again. Hardware and shipping is the kind of adventure that we've only recently gotten better at. And I'll freely admit that it isn't our 'unique ability'. It also causes quite a few logistical headaches that aren't part of what motivates us to do our work and build the best app(s) out there.
For example: some people who've bought the MRA Adventure Keychain didn't receive it, thus we had to restore this, send packages back and forth, correct adressess, shout at the logistics provider because they messed up some settings and caused a day extra of administrative work, shout at PostNL for playing foodball with packages, etc. etc.
Some time ago we explored some options with QuadLock, but decided it wasn't the time back then.
Hope this explanation helps!
Kind regards,
Timo

@Timo-Martosatiman-MRA Thanks for clarifying this point.
Keep going with great job in MRA and, like @Rob-Verhoeff said, "make MRA the most interesting route-making-and-navigation-app in the world". I'm sure you can count with all of us to help -
@Timo-Martosatiman-MRA
OK, to deliver hardware right now may be a bridge to far, but I think that a few examples of "navigation reference architectures" on your website:
- making very clear that MRA only supplies the navigation app
- but pointing equally clear to some best of class (normal phone, rugged phone, rugged tablet) navigation options (including how to fix these on a motorcycle)
and the description of the advantages/disadvantages of each option could help the less technology savvy users a lot.
