Issue with BMW Connected Ride Navigator
-
Apologies if this has been asked before - nothing came up in my search that solved my problem
I have a new BMW Connected Ride Nav - it has been updated to the latest software 1.03
I can using my phone open MRA and export a route (using version 1.2) to the Connected ride app. It then transfers 2 files into the app - 1 route and 1 track
In the connected app I can then import and create the route and it calculates the miles, time etc as you would expect
If I try and open the route in the Nav or import it tries to open but then it never gets beyond calculating the route
I'm confused that the phone app works with the info but the navigator doesn't - does anyone have a fix or workround for this
Thanks

@Ian-Montana I just tried exporting a GPX file in version 1.1 using the TomTom map
the Nav again gets to the Calculating route and just spins and doesn't complete
I need this for a trip to europe in a couple of weeks so hopefully there will be a fix for this or just some education for me on the correct procedure
Thanks

@Ian-Montana One thing I thought was strange was that it doesn't show distance or time - just number of points

@Ian-Montana I've just tried a simple route in the UK and that transferred fine to the Nav
All the maps are downloaded for Europe .....

On the phone or on the CRN I have the route switch to / show Route points. This only works fine when the Tom Tom map is used. When the here map is used the number of RP’s are in the thousands, the CRN can only handle up to 50 RP.
So I create a route (or get one from the library), convert it to the TT map, check that my RP are equal or less than 50 (even complicated routes can comfortably fit within 50 RP). Save it as 1.1 gpx route and track, and mail it to my self. I then open the GPX in the phone app, import only the route. Then I use the option ‘switch to Route Points’. If less than or equal to 50, the route is calculated, then I save it. Within a few minutes the Route is visible in the CRN ( I use a SIM card, but Wifi will also do), including the Route points. It can then be calculated.
Hope this helps.

Good overview! I work almost the same way.
Instead of saving the route, I transfer the route directly as a GPX 1.1 file from MRA on my iPhone to the Connect Ride App via the options: 1) Download 2) Export 3) directly to the Connect Ride App.After some time the CRN has synchronised all the routes/tracks once it has a connection with the internet.

@Dikke-Wim Great! I will be going on a 7 day roadtrip starting 22nd June through the vosgezen, alps, Dolomites and black Forrest. Really anxious to see what curves CRN will throw at me but after that i should really know it a lot better. Will share my experiences.
