Shortcut to skip way point and blocked roads
-
Hi, I am new here and don't have access to the beta yet. Seems to take a while, I'll wait.
Two thinks for your development. I drove around 75k km with my Garmin LM340 and like to share my thoughts with you. Maybe it's a duplicate, sorry if it is.
In my 10 years old Garmin LM340 that I used until this year I have two shortcut buttons directly on the screen that are very handy to use while driving and without stopping. One is a shortcut to skip the next waypoint without questions asked. The second is to tell the system that I need a detour, because the road is blocked.
The first I believe is obvious and most likely already available or on your feature list.
The second is something somehow even Garmin seemed to have removed from newer models of their navigation systems. I use this button quite often, because it's better than just turning a random direction and hoping for the best. If you implement an intelligent version of this feature I believe it's an asset to your app. Something like pushing the button and the system recognizes that the next intersection the designated route is not possible and changes it in a way that avoids the blocked road and guiding to the next shaping point. (If the driver already stopped maybe assuming that the road is blocked exactly there.) If the next point is on the blocked road or very close to it skipping it.
Regards
Dennis

@Dennis-B-0 welcome!
Skipping waypoints is easy and can be achieved in a lot of ways already. Forcing a detour manually isn’t a feature but as soon as you deviate the best alternative is calculated.
You’ll get access coming week.

@Corjan-Meijerink Thank you for your quick reply. Of course changing the route and having the best alternative does work. What I am suggesting is the possibility to tell the system in advance that I need a new route. Most of the times when a road is blocked there are two or even more (in a roundabout) options to take. If I can tell the system that the next road is blocked and need a detour it makes the decision which road to take a lot easier.
It's only a suggestion, please think about it. Maybe it finds it way on the feature list somewhere. I believe it's very helpful on the road.
Have a great Sunday! Dennis

There’s already been quite a discussion on roadblocks. It’s something that is users of Garmin devices, and Scenic on iOS, are quite used to

@Dae-0 Thank you. It's the same thing I am thinking about. I will link my thoughts from here there as well.
